Preparation Proposal

A Personal TMUA Preparation Proposal

Prepared exclusively for Kenneth & Flavia

Thank you again for taking the time to speak with me. Following our conversation, I wanted to prepare a few different options that keep the preparation both financially comfortable and academically optimal.

Why I recommend starting gently

I genuinely believe the most effective TMUA preparation begins around January of Year 12. Starting earlier is absolutely possible, but there is little value in spending every session exclusively on TMUA months before the mathematical maturity is there.

Instead, we can use the autumn months to build exceptionally strong foundations in A-Level Maths and Further Maths, making the TMUA preparation much more efficient once we reach January.

Optional Preliminary Step

Summer 2026: Edexcel A-Level Launch

An excellent opportunity to establish momentum before the formal TMUA journey begins. This independent module is designed to secure Alexander's transition from GCSE to Year 12.

Standard Launch

Foundation & Confidence

Build confidence in A-Level Maths & Further Maths, identify any weaknesses, and stay comfortably ahead of school.

TMUA Introduction

Gradually introduce TMUA methods, logic, and problem-solving techniques while supporting the core Year 12 content.

Intensive Preparation

Full focus on TMUA past papers, advanced mathematical reasoning, timing strategies, and intensive mock exams.

Final Polish & Exam

Final mock assessments, UCAS/Oxbridge applications support, leading up to taking the TMUA in October.

Official Registration & Administration

What to expect for Alexander's cycle next year (based on current UAT-UK guidelines)

Key Milestones for an October Sitting

  • July: Test booking opens. It is strongly advised to book as early as possible to secure a convenient time at a local Test Centre.
  • Mid-September: Deadlines for requesting access arrangements (e.g., separate room, extra time) or bursaries. (Requires up to 10 working days for approval).
  • Late September: Strict test booking closure. UAT-UK does not accept late bookings under any circumstances.
  • Mid-October: The TMUA Test Window.
Important: Applicants to the University of Cambridge or Oxford MUST sit the test during the October window.
  • Mid-November: Results are released directly to candidates via their UAT-UK account.
Current Test Fees: A test costs £78 for candidates in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and £133 for candidates sitting elsewhere.

Recommended Options

Select the path that best suits your goals and timeline.

Option A

Platform first, coaching later

£395 + £1095/mo
  • Platform access (Sep–Dec)
  • Weekly coaching from January
  • Excellent balance between budget and timing
Recommended

Option B

Sep 26 → Oct 27

£995 / month
  • Weekly coaching throughout the year
  • Platform included
  • Sessions adapted between TMUA and A-Level
  • Priority support
Because we're starting unusually early, part of Year 12 will naturally focus on strengthening Maths and Further Maths. For that reason I'm happy to offer a reduced monthly rate throughout the programme.

Option C

Platform + Strategy

£895 one-off
  • Platform access (Sep 26-Oct 27)
  • 1-hour diagnostic session
  • Personal roadmap until Christmas
  • Freedom to join coaching later

Complete flexibility during Year 12

One advantage of starting early is that the sessions do not need to be exclusively TMUA-focused.

Further Maths Support

If a challenging topic appears at school, we can dedicate a session to it.

Mock Exams

If school mock exams are approaching, we can prepare specifically for them.

TMUA Progression

If everything is going smoothly, we continue building TMUA techniques.

The objective is simple: every session should provide immediate value while progressively preparing for the TMUA.

Frequently Asked Questions

For intensive TMUA work, yes. For building excellent mathematical foundations, it's an ideal time.

Absolutely. Maths and Further Maths can temporarily become the priority whenever useful.

Yes. The preparation simply becomes progressively more TMUA-focused from January onwards.
